Ask the receiving authority first

Check acceptance rules first and avoid uploading a complete identity document for general understanding.

Decide before exposing an identity document

Required evidence
The receiving authority's rules and, when possible, an official sample document.
Acceptance relationship
Acceptance rules decide whether an automated explanation has any official use.
Privacy boundary
Do not upload a full identity page just to understand one generic label.

Start with the receiving authority

Ask what the document is needed for and whether the recipient requires a certified translation, a specific translator declaration, or a copy of the whole document. An automated translation may be informative but not acceptable for submission.

Use the spelling and number formatting from the official document. Do not let a translation model normalize a personal name, document number, or place of birth.

Reduce exposure

A passport or ID may contain a portrait, signature, document number, machine-readable zone, nationality, birth data, and security details. Cropping one non-sensitive label is different from uploading the whole page.

If you only need to understand a generic heading, use an official sample or type the heading without personal values. Follow organizational rules and use an approved service when the entire document must be processed.

Keep official work separate

Do not edit translated text onto the original image in a way that could be mistaken for an altered document. Store explanatory translations separately and label them clearly.

For travel, immigration, legal, employment, or financial use, obtain guidance from the receiving authority or a qualified translator. TranslatePhoto.org is designed for general understanding, not certification or identity verification.
